After an initial attendance at the UN climate change conference in Cancun, Mexico in 2010 (COP16), Fairtrade stepped up its efforts to draw attention to the plight of farmers at COP 17, in Durban, South Africa. For the first time, Fairtrade gained official accreditation and could intervene in the negotiations.
